For immediate release:
January 17, 2025 (Vancouver, BC) Oceanic Wind Energy Inc. (“Oceanic”) (NEX-V: NKW.H) is very pleased to announce that the Crown Land Tenure Application for Windpower Investigation, in a defined area of Hecate Strait, has been accepted. The application is a joint Coast Tsimshian Enterprises Ltd. (“CTE”) and Oceanic application. CTE is a 100% owned partnership between Lax Kw’alaams and Metlakatla First Nations. On December 27, 2024, CTE and Oceanic received notice from the British Columbia Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship advising they have completed their initial review and the application is accepted. This begins a comment period that ends on February 12, 2025, which is followed by First Nations consultation and public review.
Oceanic is currently in discussion with potential major partners who have significant experience in designing, building, and operating large offshore wind projects around the world and look forward to moving the project from the development stage to the implementation of a significant offshore wind project to help power the Northwest and also help meet the Province’s Climate policies and Greenhouse Gas reduction targets for 2030 and beyond.
